ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR NEW STUDENTS
8. RESPECT FOR OTHER PERSONS IN THE COLLEGE :“Nobody is his/her own boss in life”.
Staff members – should be recognized and you should accept those accorded the power to lead you.
Fellow students – Respect others as human beings.
Beating of other students is forbidden.
9. LIFE IN THE CHAPEL: Respect for sacred places is important.
Talking in the Chapel is NOT ALLOWED.
Sleeping in the Chapel is NOT ALLOWED
Each student should actually own and use the College Prayer book, A Cameroon Hymnal and other liturgical books. Sharing of these items in the Chapel and in the singing hall will not be allowed.
10. LIFE IN THE CLASSROOM:
Ownership of class equipment (textbooks, exercise books, pens, mathematical sets is compulsory.
Maintain silence at all times.
Be attentive to what the teacher is teaching.
Do your Assignments and hand them to the teacher in time.
Show Respect to others (classmates and teachers).
Examination fraud: copying, comparing answers, forgery etc. are punished by the award of zero – ‘O’ for that examination/test.
11. LIFE IN THE REFECTORY: Use of cutlery is compulsory to all.
Respect Table manners in general.
Keep a Clean environment in the refectory and its surroundings (rags, unclean tables, unwashed plates, cups, spoons etc should be taken good care of)
No carrying of food out of the refectory to the dormitory.
No extra food from Home.
12. LIFE IN THE DORMITORY:
No food in the dormitory.
Maintain silence in the dormitory after Lights Out.
Bed-wetting
Protect property (college, personal and others).
No money in boxes or taken to the dormitory. (All money deposited with the Bursar).
Keep the toilet clean for others after use. Students should protect the college and personal property. Do not vandalize the electrical gadgets and water taps.
13. PUNCTUALITY IN GENERAL:
Respect the bell
Bells go 10 minutes before the start of the activity. Move immediately you hear it.Your time is God’s precious time, do not waste it.
Time is money.
14. THE PLACE OF SPORTS IN THE COLLEGE: Good for health of mind and body. Turn up for sports and participate actively.
Keep-fit in the morning.
Playing inter college matches.
15. THE PLACE OF MANUAL LABOUR: Students should own cutlasses or hoes.
Everybody should do his/her own share of work
Permanent Portions will be given.
Punishments in General must be done.
16. CATERING FOR THE HEALTH OF STUDENTS: Each student needs a record (an exercise book)
There are college nurses.
Note the periods for going to the Sick Bay.
Don’t use this as a refuge to stay away from classes or Work.
Must follow the modality of taking drugs (after meals)
Surrender all drugs to the Nurses.
17. RELATION WITH THE BURSAR:
All financial transactions are done with the Bursar.
Find out the days of withdrawing money from the bursary and the.
Terms of withdrawing drawing money.
18. RELATION WITH THE SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR/CHAPLAIN.
He is always present and does the following:
Counseling,
Confessions, and
Spiritual Director for ALL. 19. THE DISCIPLINE MASTER: Grants permissions in and out of college.
All cases are reported to him.
Refer to him for inter-student cases.
20. THE PRINCIPAL AND VICE:
They are always available.
Parents and students may see them personally for grave matters.
Bring your cases to them only when absolutely necessary.
They grant permission to go out of Mutengene, or to spend days out of the college.
